Star Wars: The Last Jedi Review

Hi friends! IT IS TIME, the newest Star Wars film The Last Jedi hits theaters this week and we were lucky enough to snag a sneak peek thanks to our friends at Disney and Fingerpaint. Now we’re not going to give anything away but we wanted to share our thoughts as to WHY you need to get out to see this film as soon as possible!

In Lucasfilm’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi, the Skywalker saga continues as the heroes of The Force Awakens join the galactic legends in an epic adventure that unlocks age-old mysteries of the Force and shocking revelations of the past. Star Wars: The Last Jedi opens in U.S. theaters on December 15, 2017.

The movie picks up right where The Force Awakens left off. I don’t know about you, but our family went crazy over The Force Awakens. For the adults it was definitely because it had been so long since we had a new Star Wars film at the box office. But for our kids it was exciting too. Though they’re new to Star Wars they are already familiar with the characters and story line and really enjoyed the new film.

I liked it MORE than The Force Awakens. Now it’ll be hard to match the success of The Force Awakens at the box office this weekend, but oh, this film so should. Many of the same characters return so there are less introductions and more deeper development and action. Loved every minute.

Star Wars The Last Jedi NO SPOILER Review-6

There are great new characters. I’m always skeptical when new characters are introduced into our beloved saga, but I really loved the additions!

Yes, you’ll LOVE Porg. So I didn’t buy into the Porg hype right away. I wanted to be sure that I’d love him before I bought everything Porg-related. But if you want to know my thoughts, you’d just have to check my recent Amazon purchases to know that I’m 100% on board with the hype.

The visuals and cinematography are on point. After years of new films and new worlds, you’d think it would be difficult to one up. But I loved some of the visuals in The Last Jedi!

There are surprising plot twists! Obviously I can’t say more than that, but there were times I literally gasped and maybe even said “WHOA” out loud. I squealed and even hit folks sitting next to me (sorry about that). You definitely aren’t going to be able to foresee all of the twists and turns in this one.

It’s surprisingly funny at times. I always think of Star Wars as somewhat dark and brooding – there’s always so much conflict. But there are real moments of levity and humor in this film that I found refreshing!

You’ll get emotional seeing Carrie. General Leia returns in this film and yes, it’s truly emotional seeing her on screen. You’ll also get to see her daughter Billie Lourd return as Lieutenant Connix.

Is the film ok for kids? As always, it’s a personal family decision. My kids have seen all of the Star Wars films to this point and seem to have no issue with the action and violent themes. And this movie I would say is on par with the rest.

Well that’s about all I can share for now. I’d LOVE to hear your thoughts once you see the film – and YES – you need to see it opening night or as close to as possible. I can’t wait for the boys to see it.
